Patrick van der Meulen

CEO & Founder at enie.nl

Patrick van der Meulen (31) is a sustainable entrepreneur with a mission to accelerate the transition towards cheaper, decentralised, and renewable energy. When Patrick and his brother Milan saw the documentary An Inconvenient Truth by former US Vice President Al Gore, they knew one thing for certain: The climate crisis will be the biggest threat to the world we know. Their generation will be the ones confronted with the consequences and will have the last chance to take action. In that moment, Patrick and Milan decided to use entrepreneurship as a force for good. Patrick is the founder and CEO of enie.nl, an impact-driven solar energy supplier. The company began in 2013 with one mission: to make solar energy accessible to everyone. Enie.nl is active in both the residential and SME market. Since its founding, enie.nl grew into one of the leading solar energy companies in the Netherlands and serves around 25,000 customers with high-end, accessible, and affordable solar energy solutions. Enie.nl is currently active in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and South Africa and was recognised by MT/Sprout as a Top50 Challenger, it was ranked as one of the fastest-growing companies in the Netherlands by the Financieel Dagblad last year and is part of the Deloitte Technology Fast50. Besides his work at enie.nl, Patrick is also involved as a Climate Leader at Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project. He has been ranked multiple times in the Top 100 of Young Sustainable people of the Netherlands and frequently gives presentations about climate change and the energy transition.
